SUMMARY:Fort Lee PBA 5K
DESCRIPTION:Fort Lee is a town of ~40k people and by far better known for its diverse population and ubiquitous Korean fried chicken joints than its Chinese runners. Well this past Sunday\, Bergen Runners and Fort Lee Chinese families came together and momentarily redrew the landscape of our town with ~50 out of ~300 5k runners from one of these two groups. What started as a banter among four people (who are also probably better known for their love for Korean fried chicken than running) evolved into a community effort to bring families in Fort Lee and across Bergen County together through fitness. \nIn the two practice runs ahead of the event\, we saw the youngest members of our community outrunning the grown-ups and offering a beam of hope that we are passing the baton to a better generation. A collaborative spirit shone as our beloved Jenny volunteered to scoop up 20+ bibs and packets for our runners! (And neatly labeling each no less. We see a future in event planning for her.) \nThe settings of the race day brought challenges: humidity and higher temperature. But the don’t-expect-anything-less-than-1000%-positive-vibes from our runners foreshadowed another spectacular day for our crew. Our very own native son Jerry-I-can-jump-and-run-in-style and our endeared neighbor from Edgewater\, aka evergreen-this-is-my-nth-win-Jing\, both took home the top honor in their age group. \nNo celebration is complete without a hearty meal. What better way to wrap up the day than grabbing some mouthwatering dim sum at Aquarius in Fort Lee. No only was the shop owner’s hospitality second to none\, so was her commitment to the community as Aquarius was one of the sponsors of the event. Thank you and go Team Joyce!!! \n#fortlee5k #fitnessasacommunity #fortleerocks #bergenrunners #loverunning #littlelegs #onestepatatime #RunForFunFunToRun \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\nEvent photos

SUMMARY:NYRR Queens 10K
DESCRIPTION:The third race in the 2018 NYRR Five-Borough Series brings runners to beautiful Flushing Meadows Corona Park for a flat\, fast 10K with an early-summer date! Runners kicking off their training for the TCS New York City Marathon or any fall marathon will love this event. Flushing Meadows Corona Park is easily reached by public transportation\, and it’s a great place to spend the day. All entrants will receive a souvenir and all finishers will receive a medal. \nOn June 16\, Bergen Runners checked off one of the most popular NYRR’s five-borough races: the Queens 10K. This race brings the “9+1 qualifier” runners a step closer to qualify for the 2019 NYC Marathon as well as the highly desired NYC half marathon whose route features iconic landmarks such as the sleepless Times Square.  \nDespite a warmer-than-ideal temperature in the morning\, cracked pavement and scant shades\, our runners did not slow down.  Joining force with the Misty Mountain Running Club\, a sister team that frequents many New York trails and races\, our runners delivered astonishing results. Our top male and female runner placed in the top 3% and 4% of their respective age group!  \nCongratulations to all on another fantastic run and Happy Father’s Day!  \nEvent photos

SUMMARY:Woodcliff Lake Run
DESCRIPTION:32nd Annual Run for Education on paved\, USATF certified course with tree-lined residential streets with water stops and posted mile markers. 10K\, 5K\, Fun Run and a Dunk Tank — fun for the entire family and for a good cause!! ALL proceeds go directly back to the local schools. \nBergen Runners brought the party to the next town Woodcliff Lake on Sunday June 10th\, 2018. This beautiful town offered two irresistible courses to our runners: a scenery 10K route across the lake reservoir and mixed with a few rolling hills; and a fairly flat 5K course that is partial to personal record setting.  \nThis June weather was also perfect\, and we knew we were in for a treat. Our club members continued to deliver outstanding performance\, distance themselves from other competing runner and claim many age-group medals. All top 3 medals of one age-group (Female 45-49) were awarded to our winners amid thunderous cheers from other Bergen Runners. \nAs always\, many thanks to our organizers\, volunteers\, photographers and cheerleaders.  On this day we celebrated and embraced another milestone on our running journey.  \nSee you all at the next run! \nEvent photos

SUMMARY:Woman Mini 10K
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the NYRR New York Mini 10K\, a race just for women. This race was made for you! It’s the world’s original women-only road race\, founded in 1972 and named for the miniskirt\, and it empowers women of all ages and fitness levels to be active and feel great on the run. \n“Mini” stands for mini-skirt or mini marathon\, it’s NYRR legendary race director Fred Lebow’s creation 45 years ago – when women weren’t encouraged to go outside to run. Today\, bunch of Bergen female Runners with other 8\,300 women participated on this symbolic run for both Rising New York Road Runners and 10K events.  We had couple runners to volunteer as course marshals also. The temperature was warm but overall was a very pleasant morning in Central Park. All the runners received a medal and a flower\, it’s the best place to be in New York City today. \nEvent photos

SUMMARY:Tenafly 5K Run
DESCRIPTION:“Veni\, vedi\, vici “. We came\, we ran\, we conquered.  Unhindered by the battles and triumphs in River Edge and Ridgewood\, warriors from the Bergen Runners were victorious again at Sunday’s Tenafly 5K run.  This event marked the third consecutive commanding victory at Bergen county township races for the group.  Bergen Runner’s Tenafly regional captain Joanna mobilized a large local troop comprised of runners\, cheerleaders and photographers.  Assisted by non-Tenafly runners\, this event was transformed into a Bergen Runners club festival. The race organizer pampered runners with fresh cut flowers\, live music\, Fiji water and pasta dinner donated by local restaurants.  All of these perks were offered to runners at a meager registration fee which is why this race was considered one of the best value races by seasoned local race runners.  Bergen Runners reciprocated the organizer’s hospitality with a wide participation and top 3 placement across different age groups.  Bergen Runners’ stellar results and strong participation at the Tenafly 5K showcased our athleticism and diverse representation from townships across NJ. \nEvent photos

SUMMARY:Ridgewood 10K Run
DESCRIPTION:What could be a better way to spend Memorial Day at than a raving race at Fred d’Elia Ridgewood Run 2018 10K with your fellow runners? A dozen of Bergen Running Club members crashed this premier road race in Northern Jersey today and finished the run with outstanding results and personal records. \nFor a few of our elite runners\, today was their first-ever 10K race\, even though they have well advanced to further distances (such as Half Marathon) and bigger races. A whopping record of 44:49! For some of our courageous apprentices\, they finished the race at the speed that pleasantly surprised themselves. Thanks to our Team Captain and Cheerleaders\, because of you\, the race is not just an exciting episode\, but also a fond memory for a long time to come. \nEvent photos

SUMMARY:Brooklyn Half Marathon
DESCRIPTION:Bergen Runners took the battle field to Brooklyn\, the most popular borough of New York City on May 19th\, 2019. Attracted us was not the famous Graffiti street arts or the Brooklyn hipster pizza\, but the widely-celebrated 13.1 Miles half marathon course starting from Brooklyn Museum/Prospect Park to the shoreline of Coney Island.  \nA crowd of 25\,000 was fueled with excitement despite of a bit of chilly rain and the long wait time at the beginning line. Our experienced racers turned the drizzles into a full-course cooling system to play to our full advantage. Personal records were set and results well-exceeded expectations for the many of us.  \nAt the finish line by the shoreline\, a carnival-like setting awaited for the soaked racers with loads of cheering. Looking back\, the course was full of Brooklyn historical landmarks and features\, yet reasonably challenging. Can’t wait to come back here next year!  \nEvent photos

SUMMARY:New Jersey Marathon
DESCRIPTION:On the chilly and windy Sunday morning of April 29th\, 2018\, the Bergen Runners arose before dawn in packs to conquer the courses of full\, half marathon and 4-person relay. There was something for everyone. Bergen runners were joined by other local clubs in Jersey and almost 50 athletes showed up proud and strong. \nFor our elite runners\, this was the race that knocks the door open to the 2019 Boston Marathon or sets another personal record; for others we just wanted to be there for the “pancake-flat” scenery course\, company of the fellow runners and the after-race beach party.  \nThe rain stopped right before the race and the sun shined out right after; A perfect race and party day! Big thanks go to all the volunteers for your cheers\, photographs\, and home-felt team tent full of food\, drinks and laughter.  \nMedia coverage \nEvent photos

SUMMARY:River Edge 5K
DESCRIPTION:Add River Edge 5K Race to your “Must-Attend” yearly race planner! This year the local friendly 5K community race just got a little louder and more competitive with Bergen Runners crashing the party and stealing the spotlights. \nAfter 8 weeks of 5K training for the beginners\, the novice runners proudly accomplished their first 3.1 mile race on a mildly hilly course. Parent-child team was another theme that inspired many fellow runners and viewers. Our elites runners run and shined throughout the course.  \nThe best part was the award ceremony when our runners were called onto the podium to accept medals for the top runners in their age group.  Our Captain Renny won the Fastest Resident Runner.  Most importantly\, the event organizers recognized the club as the Best Presented Club on the race day.  There was no doubt Bergen Runners were most visible on the race route today.

SUMMARY:NYC Half Marathon
DESCRIPTION:It was a chilly cold morning for the NYC half marathon day. This year’s new course started from Prospect Park in Brooklyn\, passed Manhattan Bridge turned into FDR drive\, through iconic Times Square and finished in the New York Central Park. We ran in freezing temperature with our Misty Mountain Runners friends and other 21\,965 runners. The course was somehow challenging especially the hilly finish in Central Park but the crowd cheers compensate for everything. Despite the cold weather\, some our club members worked as volunteers whole morning. They guided runners and people traffic\, greeted and took photos for our runners near the finish area. They deserved a grand round of applause just like all the runners today!
